What is the truth about dairy products? The dairy industry spends millions of dollars every year to try to convince us that milk and cheese are healthy, and even essential for growing strong bones.
This video, from NutritionFacts.org reports on a recent Swedish study from 2014 which followed a hundred thousand men and women for an average of 20 years. They found that milk-drinking women had higher rates of death, more heart disease, and significantly more cancer for each glass of milk. Women drinking three glasses a day had nearly twice the risk of death. And they had significantly more bone and hip fractures too. Men with increased milk consumption had higher rates of death from all causes, and specifically of death from cardiovascular disease. They found no significant difference in fracture rates in men.
Infants fed cow’s milk are significantly more likely to develop obesity over their next 30 years of life than are breastfed infants: see this video.
Milk, cheese, eggs, and meat are all associated with decreased male fertility, and decreased sperm quality, as discussed in this video. This is due to several factors. Milk, cheese, and eggs all have high concentrations of the female hormone estradiol. Meat contains anabolic steroids used to promote rapid weight gain in animals prior to slaughter. High concentration of cholesterol in the blood is also associated with a lower percentage of normal sperm. Animal products all contain cholesterol. Finally, industrial chemicals accumulate up the food chain into cow fat, and some of these “lipophilic” (fat-loving) chemicals may have hormone-disrupting abilities.
